Access Storage Balham

This 40 week design and build project to create an addition 1000m2 of storage space over a new 5 storey extension and new office/reception to an existing storage facility is due to be completed on programme early summer 2007.

The main scope of works included RC foundations, steel frame clad in traditional cladding and composite roof panels, with the perimeter walls complying with a 90 minutes boundary condition.

Internally the upper floors were constructed of a metal/timber mezzanine construction and incorporated an 89 minutes ceiling with the ground floor being a power floated slab. Over a hundred new storage units have been created along with a new lift installation.

The success of the project was to manage the logistics of construction within an extremely confined site, building to within 1meter of the boundary which boarders a primary school, main rail line and government buildings along with ensuring the store was fully operationally during the construction process.
